Shampoo

Ingredients for your shampoos (the number will depend on the size of the molds):

  • 100 g of SCI (very mild surfactant derived from coconut oil, presented in powder form - available online if you can't find it in your small shops)

  • 20 g of mineral or vegetable powder (list and properties at the bottom of the page)

  • 30 g of water

  • 40 g of vegetable oil (list and properties at the bottom of the page)

  • 40 drops of essential oil (list and properties at the bottom of the page)

Material :

  • balance

  • glass pot

  • saucepan for bain-marie

  • wooden spoon or spatula

  • molds (or yoghurt pots collected and washed)

  • Place 100 g of SCI surfactant in a water bath container

  • Add 20 g of mineral or vegetable powder of your choice

  • Add 30 g of water (or aqueous solution of your choice)

  • Add 40 g of vegetable oil or butter of your choice (if in solid form, melt them beforehand in a double boiler before adding the ingredients   previous )

  • Gently heat the mixture in a double boiler

  • Stir continuously with a wooden spoon or spatula until the dough thickens

  • When the dough is homogeneous, remove it from the bain-marie

  • Dig a well in the dough and add 40 drops of essential oil of your choice (this step is not mandatory)

  • Mix the dough again with the wooden spatula

  • Transfer the dough into the molds (without dragging too much because it solidifies quickly)

  • Pack the dough and smooth it out

  • Let stand one day before unmolding

  • Unmould the shampoos and let them dry a few days before use

The properties of the components below are given for information only. It is of course possible to make your shampoos with the ingredients that you have at your disposal without buying a whole panoply.

Properties of mineral and vegetable powders :

  • Clay: for oily hair

  • Shikakaï: for brown hair, promotes growth, anti-dandruff

  • Rhassoul: absorbs impurities and fats

  • Marshmallow: ideal for sheathing, detangling and embellishing hair

  • Stinging nettle: for brittle hair, anti-dandruff

  • Sidr: for blond hair, soothes itchy scalp, anti-dandruff

  • Orange: brings shine, softness and suppleness

  • Neem: anti-dandruff

  • Brahmi (Ayurvedic powder): promotes growth, strengthens hair from the roots, making it shinier and fuller, soothes the scalp

  • Burdock: for oily hair, excess sebum, anti-dandruff, itching

Properties of vegetable oils :

  • Castor oil: fortifying effect, stimulates growth, very dry hair

  • Avocado: nourishes, stimulates growth, dry and dull hair

  • Mustard: anti-hair loss effect

  • Jojoba: all hair types

  • Coconut: brings vigor, nourishes and shines

  • Hazelnut: oily hair

  • Grape seeds: fine and brittle hair

  • Camellia: fine hair

  • Borage: dry, brittle and split ends

  • Argan: damaged and split hair, anti-dandruff

  • Hemp: dry and frizzy hair

  • Raspberry seeds: irritated scalps

  • Broccoli: curly hair

Properties of essential oils :

  • Anti-dandruff action: EO of Tea Tree, Juniper, Bourbon geranium, Palmarosa, Clary sage

  • Itching: Tea Tree EO, Juniper, True Lavender

  • Dull, damaged and / or brittle hair: Rosewood, Lemon, Bourbon geranium, Laurel noble

  • Oily hair: Tea Tree EO, Bourbon Geranium, True Lavender, Palmarosa, Petitgrain bigarade

  • For dry hair: Sweet Orange EO, Ylang-ylang

  • Blonde hair: Roman Chamomile EO

  • Highlighted or colored hair: Roman Chamomile EO

  • White / gray / silver hair: Matricaria Chamomile EO (it contains chamazulene, the famous blue molecule, which helps revive white / gray / silver hair)

  • Stimulation of growth and slowing down of hair loss: noble laurel oil, true lavender, peppermint, grapefruit
